Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL) has installed a new linkspan at Oban Ferry Terminal.

Project
The linkspan, which is the terminal’s original linkspan and is predominately used by the Mull ferry service, has reached the end of its serviceable life and needed to be replaced. The existing support structures were also be strengthened as part of the project. The project will use cutting-edge building information modelling (BIM), an intelligent 3D model process that supports construction projects with tools and insights to assist planning, design and engineering decisions.

Execution

Having taken on the project, Jerwin Coatings fulfilled all of the build requirements for the new Linkspan – from preparation to painting.

As a result of the client’s satisfaction with the work carried out, Jerwin Coatings has been commisioned to paint two more Linkspan bridges for the Coll & Tiree ferry terminals.
